The Living Prison

Section 01
Nomitus did not successfully imprison Racheal Lewis inside her own body. Racheal imprisoned Nomitus. She keeps the royal Crexin sealed inside herself because releasing him would give him access to a host less capable of resistance. She is not merely surviving possession. She is containing an invasion.
Section 02
01
Racheal lived through ordinary rituals she loved: knives striking cutting boards, spices clinging to her apron, customers filling her mother's restaurant, and Arthur Waid dancing badly beside her in the kitchen. Sol y Sazón is more than her workplace. It anchors her identity before and after possession.

Arthur joined a pioneering mission to Mars. Beneath the planet's surface, his crew encountered a dormant Crexin presence. Nomitus entered Arthur and returned to Earth inside him. Arthur became gravely ill as the entity consumed his cells. When his body could no longer sustain it, Nomitus searched the people closest to him for a stronger host and found Racheal.

During one of Arthur and Racheal's final embraces, Nomitus attempted to transfer. Racheal saw fragments of the civilizations it had consumed and understood that forcing it out would only send it into somebody weaker. She pulled it completely inside herself and closed the path behind it. Nomitus attacked her consciousness, tried to seize her body, and tried to transfer again. Racheal held. Arthur died from the damage Nomitus had already caused, leaving her with the creature responsible sealed inside her.

Racheal's conscious will maintains the containment seal. She and Nomitus can hear one another, argue, share involuntary sensations, and enter each other's memories. While he remains sealed inside her, he cannot reproduce, transfer, or infect anybody else. She could try to force him out, but she chooses to keep the door closed so nobody else must carry him.
Section 03
Spirit's magic runs through one rule: every spell opens the cell door. The prison holds at SEALED, narrows open at CHANNELED, and fails toward BREACH.
CostChanneling gives Nomitus temporary access to her body and senses.
VisualBroad smoke like energy with a few thin molten red currents.
CostUnder stronger Nomitus influence, objects behave like unwilling limbs and return physical strain to the shared body.
CostShort range, and never unlimited consecutive use.
VisualOne brief red black reality stutter and a tearing seam.
CostEvery echo stretches Nomitus beyond the prison and weakens Racheal's control.
CostHealing gives Nomitus intimate access to another person's body and is one of the powers Racheal fears using most.
CostRacheal refuses to dominate an innocent identity. Nomitus has no such restraint.
CostStrong impacts feed sensation directly back into her nervous system.
CostTemporary and local. It gives Nomitus access to nearly her entire body.
CostSpirit's greatest magical strength and the point at which Nomitus comes closest to escape.
Section 04
Outside
She cannot sacrifice herself carelessly, cannot use power without loosening the prison, and cannot remove Nomitus without endangering somebody else. Her journey is learning that compassion does not require opening the cell. She keeps running Sol y Sazón because family, food, and service remind her that the invader has not replaced the person who was there first.
Inside
He wants Racheal to surrender so he can reopen the pathway, infect new hosts, and complete the conquest that would prove his worth to Avenka. Yet forced proximity exposes the fear beneath his rage and gives him reasons to preserve people even when doing so no longer benefits the mission. His central question is whether freedom means anything if he uses it only to become what he was created to be.

Section 06
Boyfriend / deceased first host
Arthur unknowingly carried Nomitus from Mars to Earth. His death is the emotional wound at the centre of Racheal's story; she lives with the creature that killed him sealed inside her.
Mother / founder of Sol y Sazón
Tina represents home, continuity, and the life Racheal preserves. Racheal hides the full truth because Nomitus would immediately exploit Tina as leverage.
Closest friend
Maya notices the changes in Racheal's sleep, temperament, and health and becomes unwilling to accept her excuses.
Prisoner, possessor, unwilling counterpart
Nomitus is not an external companion. Racheal and Nomitus share one body, one nervous system, one battlefield, and increasingly complicated influence over one another.
Crexin Queen / Nomitus's mother
Avenka views Racheal as both an insult to the royal bloodline and an extraordinarily valuable host. She wants Nomitus released and wants to understand how one human contained him.
Nomitus's older brother
Bouly learned compassion through his own host and betrayed the Crexin mission. His history proves that Nomitus may be capable of change, although Racheal cannot risk Earth on that possibility alone.
